Speed Hero Snow Drift Safety Session1

So this was a tester event to get people to learn the skills it takes to be a good driver in the snow! Lessons and instructions went well, and everyone had a safe, fun time. Honestly; James had come back East from Victoria and I wanted to show him a good time last night. I hadn't seen my fellow Speed Hero in months and it was important we do something car related, and Quinn Styled as I think it's what he misses most. It was cold, and organized pretty...um....fly by the seat of the pants (that means when you zip down, the zipper gets closer to your butt in a strange way). James and I showed up, pretty early. We did a few small slides by ourselves, a Camry and a Aveo were there as well, but they just seemed to have been at the lot for other reasons, after a few slides they left. We sat for a while, nervous as it really was very public of where we were going to be and what we were doing. But alas, the laws in Ontario have been formulated as such that we were pretty well protected otherwise. It's illegal to even race on most race tracks in Ontario, but for some reason parking lots are perfectly fine. Slowly things began to pick up. An Altima rolled in, and did some decent slides for a FWD....lol Then more started showing up, RWD's mostly. Then came the AWD monsters. Snow tires + AWD = basically shoveling the lot. The snow below the wheels began to clear from the pavement and in some spots melt from the friction of the spinning wheels! Eventually we began to work out a rhythm and a bit of a course, though limited space left us basically doing big donuts. 100% local, yet everything was represented: Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Kia, GMC, in multiple different models. Things weren't to crazy, though a few close calls, people had heads on their shoulders for once and kept it going pretty smooth. I brought out a beater ae86 SR5 on some all seasons (I'm not sure, they might be snows?) I could barely keep up for the most part, just from it being a shitty auto open diff, but it was still nice to get right sideways. :D There were two Lexi out for the night, both did very well. Andrews got a lot of slide time behind the wheel. ;) Obviously the Subaru's were killing it. AWD turbo monsters. It was impossible to keep up. I tried with the trusty corolla, but my "L" setting sucks. HAHAHAHA It was fucking cold, I have no idea what the temperature was, but for the most part people ended up driving each others cars and riding along in them just to keep warm! I wouldn't mind a Subie myself, and Robin seems to love them! Mark brought out his Skyline sedan, while Brendan had out his RB25 240sx coupe. Zenki Coupes are sex. Brandon's WRX was the talk of the night, it was just two quick and sideways. There was even a 4WD suburban out in full force. :D There is no comment on the above accident as it did not occur during our learning session.
