SpeedHero Racing school: Our first and second semi-official track day!

Let's pickup where we left off...where were we....right! [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Digging around in the engine bay I found both of these. Jammed into the engine mounts. It looks like someone kept dropping and replacing their oil caps. lol I don't know how many years this car was carrying around 3 different oil caps.[/caption] Put a new distributor O-ring in today. It's been many years since I actually timed a vehicle myself. Don't worry, I can design 3 piece wheels to near exact manufacturing requirements, but timing an old carb'd car isn't common...

Twenty Seven: Drift School beginnings?

10 days ago I picked up my 27th Corolla I've ever owned! It's a 1982 TE72 with 267,000km on it. 3TC automatic. This purchase was justified in my brain by the added duty beyond a daily driver, of being a tool of education, a racing school student car. I'd been giving formal and information racing instruction during our drifting events for years now. For some it was successful for others, not so much. I realized recently what a major differentiating factor was: the cars! Some students showed up in good working cars, that...

Outlets Part 3: Zombies ate my neighbors.

For a zombie survival game, you wouldn't think there would be any automotive firsts....   Our first automotive adventure was DayZ's first ever car show! Country truck Jamberoo.   [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1440"] 3 trucks gathered for a truck show![/caption] [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1440"] Ass to Ass comparison of the two common truck body types. One got a little more junk in the trunk, or planks in the stanks?[/caption] [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1440"] I have BOOBS?!?![/caption] [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1440"]

Loops and Hoops

Depression does weird things. My morals and view points on the value of life have changed so dramatically in the past few years. I now believe that no one has any real value, there is no real true meaning to life, there is no one true god/any at all, blah blah blah Nihilism to the extreme. It's truly how I feel, which is frustrating, but how? I don't generally find many things fun anymore. The idea of building and owning a car isn't exciting really, and it shows in my racecar sitting for months. Sure it'd be fun to drive...

So, what'd you do last weekend?

I went back! Last year, I made a promise. I said I'd go back. So I did. Mr. Komukai and I returned to Tsukuba for this year's Hachiroku Matsuri. It was a bit of an overcast weekend, but it was actually quite warm.  Really pleased with that, to be honest. This year, WiZ didn't bring their car out, but Komukai-Sensei brought out a Levin that he picked up out in Gunma (which has subsequently been purchased by one of the students). No big surprises this weekend, other than a few loose (critical)...
